Ghoul - A Scary Mini Series

Ghoul is an Indian horror mini-series brought to you by Netflix and is the first entry of Netflix in India in horror genre. It consists of just 3 episodes and hence a mini-series. Let's see how it is.

Ghoul Story

Ghoul is about a Jin (Islam), Pisach (Hindu), Evil (Christian) which is called by a person to take the revenge of the brutality they went through in the detention center. The cruel torture they faced forces one prisoner to call the evil spirit to take revenge for all.

Ghoul Review/Rating

Netflix has entered into India and has since produced almost all genres including drama with Love per square foot and lust stories, a thriller with sacred games and bard of blood which is yet to be released. This marks Netflix's entry to the horror genre in this country. Now taking into account the stats, India has never been a fan of horror cinema. Every horror movie (with rare exception) have bombed on box office including the recent Pari. This could be the reason for producing only 3 episodes to check the audience response.

Talking about the producers, the producers and creators of Insidious, Paranormal Activity and Sinister have come with the finest directors of India like Anurag Kashyap. Too many people have worked in this show which can also be seen by a 4-minute credit sequence.

Moreover, Netflix has done their homework and kept in mind all the things that were included in the Indian horror movies and therefore none of them is present in Ghoul. Ghoul is not a horror that you see in Conjuring and other similar movies. Ghoul is just about two things, evil and revenge and therefore there is no flying around, powerful ghosts. The idea is kept simple that an evil spirit takes a body. This is a simple idea and of course, it won't let any spirit to fly here and there. So you will see the face of spirit only a handful of times.
Overall, my Ghoul rating is that is a nice watch and definitely recommend this series for everyone around the world.

Ghoul Season 2?

Since Ghoul was just a mini series of 3 episodes, everyone is expecting a second season. But since it released just yesterday, it would be really soon to say anything. From my side, I think Netflix is checking the response of Indian audience right now. The ending of the show also depicts that there could be a season 2 but that could also be a fabulous ending. Also, when Nida (Radhika Apte) asks a prisoner to take out the cassette of confession of her father, and says "Find that cassette, it is around a week old". But the date written on the cassette is 2019. So, this could be a hint to another season next year. But that is a pure guess. Meanwhile, enjoy season 1.
