Narcos (Season 1- Season 3)

Narcos (Season 1- Season 3) review

"Silver or Lead" the famous words by the world's most recognised drug lord Pablo Escobar reminds us of his greater than ever power and hold in Columbia. Especially in the city he lived and operated. The same is depicted in this tv series created and brought to us by Netflix.

Synopsis:

Narcos currently has three season out of which two have different stories and one different.
In the season 1, the show provides the ups and ups of the drug lord Pablo Escobar. How a man from nothing in hand becomes the greatest drug lord ever in the history. So great that 80% of drug revenue of US was from Pablo's cocaine. Season 1 shows how Pablo gets introduced to the cocaine world when it is not that "famous" and how he sees it as an opportunity to mint money like no one has ever done before but his greed and dream to become the president of Columbia is shattered by a presidential candidate who expose him in front of everyone. This forces Pablo to kill that presidential candidate and many more lives on the way.

Season two starts with Pablo being inside a jail made by himself which has a football court, a bar, a casino, a lavish office of Pablo, swimming pool, tennis court and a helipad. But from outside it looks like a very old building. This is soon exposed when he kills two of his close associates and this marks the start of the beginning of Pablo Escobar.

Season three is about the drug lords of another cartel which is cali cartel. These are four gentlemen who have a very different style of dealing than Pablo. They like to remain unnoticed and hiding from everybody. But in the end, everyone has a same fate.

My Opinion

Narcos is a beautiful depiction of the world's greatest drug lord if not the richest. Today, the world of Cocaine is so famous in Columbia because of Pablo Escobar. How a small smuggler reaches the great heights is shown very carefully and very explicitly. The narration is very good and creates a excitement in the audience as it is future predictive. The narration is always like, "And this was where Pablo's end started" or like "Nobody had thought Pablo would pay for this in the future". Apart from the narration, the acting is exceptional. If there is a word greater than exceptional, then the acting is equivalent. The acting of Pablo Escobar is mind blowing. The attitude even when he is walking or watching is phenomenal. Some of the scenes are just pasted in my mind which does not even include any emotion or dialogue. They are just like Pablo is sitting and watching. The acting is really great.
Pablo's character is played by Wagner Moura who is a brazilian actor and did not know spanish. He had to learn it in a college of Columbia with the students much lesser in age. He was quoted saying, "I do not know why I was hired for this role. I do not belong to Columbia, I do not speak Spanish, I do not even look like Pablo." But the acting he has done, I bet no one could have done the same. He is exceptional. I very highly recommend this show.

Narcos Season 4

Confirmed. Signed. In production. Narcos has been signed by Netflix for another season but Pedro Pascal won't be returning for the next season. As he says in the end of the season three, "I have had enough" is actually true. Netflix approached him for another season but he declined. The teaser for Netflix is already released which can be watched on youtube although nothing is there in it. The season three is expected to hit Netflix this October or November.

Incidents on the set

Many actors previously confirmed that they are getting threats for their life for doing this show. Directors and actors all have received threats but amid high security all of them continued shooting until season 3 when the location director was found shot and dead inside his car. He was shot multiple times and it's not hard to choose who did that. The show creators still produced and created season three. Pedro is considered to have left the show because of these threats. He was getting many threats from the cocaine world. Well, Narcos is shifted from Columbia to Mexico now so the location is changed and they are sure they won't receive any threats now. This shows how dangerous the cocaine world is in Columbia.
