Lucknow Central

I recently watched Lucknow Central and I know it has been a really late review but, late is better than never, I am here to review this movie.

First of all, I saw Rajeev Masand's review and believe me he does not understand anything about cinema, he has complaints about almost every movie except for those which are according to his age. Here below I present my review and as always I won't spoil anything for you.

Synopsis

Lucknow Central is a very beautiful movie in which a man falsely accused of murdering an IAS officer is sent to Moradabad Jail. The protagonist is Farhan Akhtar who plays Kishan in this movie. He has believed that Indian judicial system won't help him as it is the one who sent him to the jail without any evidence. The IAS family now demands death penalty for Kishan who is spending life imprisonment. After 18 months, he has been sent to Lucknow Central Prison as court accepts the appeal for the high court for death penalty. A woman who is played by Diana Penty is working as an NGO official who works for the betterment and reformation of prisoners. She is fired from her job as she rejects the offer of forming a band in Lucknow Central. Kishan sees his lifelong dream of becoming a singer coming true. But he has other plans. Forming a band is just an excuse for grabbing an opportunity to run from the prison. He forms a band though.

The jail is guarded by Ronit Roy who thinks forming a band is a stupidity and each and every prisoner is "garbage and societal filth". He thinks no prisoner has any right to reform or get better as they are meant to rot in jails.

My Opinion:

The movie revolves around the dream and freedom of Kishan. The movie is beautifully portrayed and you can enjoy every second of it. Lucknow Central has many moments which are nail biting and which will make you stick to your seats. It has good drama and entertainment factor also.
I personally liked the fact that the song Ek Kabootar was performed and sung without any dedicated background score since the scene demanded it. Had it been a Karan Johar movie, you would be hearing orchestra in the song while they are singing without any instrument.

All the characters have portrayed their character very well. But, I did not like the ending. Ending of Lucknow Central was not what it should have been and it is the only thing that disappointed me. The end song in the final performance should have been something grand and something rememberable as they had a lyricist/poet between them i.e. Kishan. Singing that song in the end is a huge disappointment for me. Although that won't hurt anything for you to watch. I recommend you to watch this movie.
