Bombay Talkies

Bombay talkies is a compilation of four short movies by four different directors. All the movies shows a life somewhere related to the Bollywood and theater. Since it has been directed by the most celebrated directors I will brief you about every movie without spoiling anything.

Karan Johar

The first movie is a Karan Johar movie which is basically on the topic of homosexuality. A boy who is homosexual is abused by his father and he leaves his home to live in a very small house with just one room. He  is not ashamed of being gay and is open about it. He meets Rani Mukherjee in his company where he is an intern. He soon finds out that Rani's husband is homosexual and even tries to kiss him to which he is beaten at his office. Randeep Hooda who plays Rani's husband is not open about his sexuality but kisses the boy in his house when he comes to apologize. The main motive I found is to be open about the sexual orientation and lead your life by who you are.

Dibakar Banerjee

Dibakar Banerjee introduced a very beautiful concept in his hort movie. I really liked the way this movie ascends. There is a man Nawazuddin who is very poor and has an ostrich to which he assures that will make him rich one day. He feeds the ostrich like his child. He is in search of low paying jobs such as watchman but is rejected every time by his luck or by people. One day he sees a movie being shot and decides to see the shooting. He is somehow selected for a very short role and his dialogue being just "Ae". The next thing followed is upto the viewer.

The way Nawaz has acted is mind blowing. He has shown a beautiful class of acting and at one point you will feel connected to it like you know him. The movie shows how an actor is an actor if a role is short or lead does not matter to him. This movie shows the way life is lead. You do hard work. You focus on your work. Do not expect anything for free. Reward follows. Highly recommended movie.

Zoya Akhtar

Zoya Akhtar has made a movie which shows how someone can achieve their dreams. Although she has left many things unanswered, she has definitely laid the path for the viewer about the future of the film. This film is about a little boy who is fascinated and mesmerised by the dancers he sees or his mother's makeup kit. His father wants him to play football to be strong like other boys but he is more focussed on dancing and looking like a girl. He likes girls and wants to be like them. One day when his sister does not get the money from his father for a school trip, he organises a small dance show with INR 10 to be entry fees.He performs on Sheila ki Jawani.

Although Zoya Akhtar has shown many messages through her movie, she has escaped unnecessary drama in it. I felt really great seeing that. The movie shows how you can achieve your dreams once you live them. It also shows that even if your dream is as weird as being a girl, if it fascinates you go for it. Also, what's wrong with being a girl?

Anurag Kashyap

The last movie of this compilation is directed by Anurag Kashyap who is also one of my favourite directors and as expected he has given the most beautiful performance among all the movies. A story about a man who wants Amitabh Bachchan to eat a murabba for his father is extraordinary. The location, the acting is mind blowing. You can feel no loopholes in his movie. I believed if I was at his place, I would be struggling in the same way as he did. It was exceptional. The lead actor has done quite beautiful acting. If he meets Amitabh Bachchan or not, I will let you see. But if you have 30 minutes and wants to watch for a movie, go for this one.
