The Family Man Review
The Family man is an action-drama series on Amazon Prime Video which aired on 20th September 2019. It shows the struggle of a middle-class man (Manoj Bajpayee as Srikant Tripathi AKA Sri) working in National Intelligence Agency, TASC. The Family Man is based on the dilemma of Sri fulfilling responsibilities as a father and a patriot, who wants to save his motherland. Manoj Bajpayee seems pretty convincing as the stressful and frustrated common man.
Story Of The Family Man
Sri seems busy in the work while his wife Shuchi(Priyamani), a professor in college wants a challenging job. A friend and colleague Talpade (Sharib Hashmi) and Sri seem inseparable in the whole story and share ups and downs together. On the other hand, Shuchi is involved in the life of her ex-colleague and co-founder of the new company, Arvind (Sharad Kelkar). She takes part in taking care of his daughter when she falls ill and going on a date to discuss about the work. The story of the family man begins with ISIS terrorists plotting for a disastrous mission which starts in Kochi. Police catch 2 of the terrorists which are admitted to the hospital. Hard work of the team finally pays off when they find a lead in a bomb blast which took them to an Anti-national college student. Confusion among the team about the student being a terrorist leads to his death. The actual character of the student turns up as a shock to everyone and Sri is awarded punishment and is sent to Kashmir. This, in reality, is a secret mission to follow the lead about the disastrous Mission Zulfikar. In the meantime, the mastermind of Zulfikar, Moosa Rehmaan(Neeraj Madhav) who was not given much importance in the beginning as the force undermined him, runs away from the custody with the help of other sleeper cells and proceeds the mission further as per the plan.
Sri gets impatient in Kashmir as there are no more leads in the case now and he repeatedly disobeys the orders from Saloni, his commanding officer. Due to being anxious and impatient about helplessness in saving his motherland, he enters Baramulla where he is informed that Sajid is another important lead. Sri recalls that he who was also one of the suspected students investigated in Delhi while he was in Delhi. Sajid successfully loads the toxic gas cylinders which the locals in Baramulla were accumulating for a long time to orchestrate mission Zulfikar. But with the help of intelligence and army, TASC was successful in stopping the truck in Kashmir. This although does not stop the mission. The mastermind Moosa Rehmani has another plan ready. This marks some twists and turns in the story with Manoj struggling to present his mother as bait. What follows next is unexpected.
The Family Man Review
Obviously, Manoj Bajpayee is the charm of The Family Man. He is serious and funny at the same time. He expresses the frustration of a common man when he is stuck in family problems and work-related tasks in a beautiful way. We have been there as a father or as kids at some point in our lives, so situations are relatable that makes the story more connected to the audience. How a family can be torn into pieces if the elders of the family, Mom and Dad are a little bit careless and its impact on the kids is depicted in a rather subtle manner during the whole series. The family man shows how a man and a woman can build a home and get all the family members together and in case of a little bit carelessness, everything falls apart. The simplicity of a man who is fighting for the safety of his motherland, still asks for a home loan and waits for the HR’s response on the application. Storyline is very common yet different and relatable which makes it nail-biting and exciting. All the actors have played their part in the best way they could and the direction is so clear that there is nowhere in the script you will feel bored and left out. Every episode will deliver a climax that will leave you in curiosity about what is going to happen in the next episode and this will end up you binge-watching the complete series in a day. In my opinion, this series is
highly recommended to watch.
